Greg Rusedski

Greg Rusedski is one of the best known and well loved tennis players in the world.

He was born in Canada and began representing Great Britain in May 1995. He was recognized as the number 4 seed in the world and at one point had the fastest serve in the world, recorded at 149 mph.

He won the prestigious BBC Sports Personality of the Year award in 1997, which was voted by the British public.

In 1998, he won the biggest tournament of his career at the ATP Masters Series in Paris and defeated the number one Pete Sampras in what he calls his greatest match played to date. Greg has a 27-11 career record (18-9 in singles) in Davis Cup play in 17 ties since 1995 and he calls his 2001 win over Ecuador on clay one of his biggest Cup achievements.

He has many hobbies and enjoys watching and supporting Arsenal Football Club (whenever possible he tries to catch them live at the new Emirates Stadium). He's a huge movie buff and a big fan of the James Bond films and he collects Bond memorabilia. Sean Connery is his favorite Bond and his favorite film is Goldfinger. He enjoys classic cars and the Porsche 356 Speedster and Jaguar E-type are two of his favorites. His favourite autobiography is A Long Walk to Freedom, the Nelson Mandela biography.

He's married to television presenter and actress, Lucy Connor and he described his wedding as the best day of his life. They have two cats, Henry and Winston, who are British short hair pedigrees and a daughter, Scarlett Mary (born January 27, 2006).

Since retiring from tennis professionally in 2007, Greg is in huge demand as a television and radio sports commentator and presenter. As well as commentating for the BBC for Wimbledon, he can be seen on British Eurosports and Sky Sports. He has recently added ice skating to his list of many talents, taking part in ITV1?s hugely successful primetime show, Dancing On Ice.
